The Chicago Glider Club has an active membership of about 80 pilots involved in all aspects of the sport, from instruction through to participation in local, Regional and National soaring contests.

Founded in 1953, we own and manage all of our facilities: our grass runway, hangars and clubhouse were all constructed - and are now maintained - by dedicated and highly proficient members who take pride in the club.

Our members fly on weekends throughout the Northern Illinois soaring season, and on weekdays whenever one of our many tow pilot members is available to tow.

We own a fleet of high quality sailplanes and towplanes that provide economical soaring to club members; many members also own their own sailplanes and base them at the CGC gliderport.

 News and Announcements
Jun 4, 2009Aircraft Annuals and other Club Work
Many members helped complete the aircraft annuals and other necessary club chores. Ken Hanford and Paul Paulikas assisted Jon Slack to get the ASW-24 annual completed. Luigi Celiberti and I completed the ASK-21 annual and Neal Ridenour, Jan Dziedzic and Glenn Olsen completed the work on the Husky. Gene Hammond mowed the runway. Bob Macys had completed the oil changes on the tow planes a few weeks ago. Next time your at YOUR club look around for something that needs to be done and volunteer your time. I know the bathrooms ALWAYS need attention.
Jun 1, 2009Clubhouse Water
Remember to start the water-pump if you use the water. The switch is in the kitchen next to the refrigerator. It is a timed switch and will turn off after the set amount of time.
Jun 1, 2009Glider Battery Chargers
Just a reminder... The glider battery chargers are on a timer (one timer for all the chargers) and the timer needs to be started after the batteries are plugged in or the batteries will be not be charged for the next days flying.
